Our core product is a unique, cutting-edge technology born from years of university research called Continuous-Variable Quantum Key Distribution (CV-QKD). This technology enables post-quantum secure key exchange for protecting sensitive data across critical infrastructure. Celare Quantum partners with local and international governments, telecom operators, data centers, banks, defense ministries, and leading academic institutions. Over the past year our team have successfully launched commercial pilot deployments of our technology. The Celare Team We are a highly specialized and ambitious team of quantum engineers, serial entrepreneurs, laser, RF and electronics specialists, mathematicians, software engineers, and IC and FPGA designers. Based in Copenhagen, we combine deep academic expertise with hands-on experience in launching complex, highimpact technology products. The Role We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Architect & Product Owner to take end-to-end ownership of two tightly coupled products: our Key Management System (KMS), the secure backbone that distributes, stores, and manages the cryptographic keys generated by our QKD platform — and our Network Management System (NMS), which provisions, monitors, and operates the QKD network in production. You will own both the technical architecture and the product roadmap, balancing customer requirements, security obligations, and engineering trade-offs. As part of a small and agile organization, you will contribute across the full product lifecycle, from early architectural decisions and prototyping to production and large-scale deployment. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility and influence. It offers work with an international, multilingual and multicultural dynamic team with direct connection to academic research and bleeding edge technologies. Responsibilities Own the end-to-end architecture of the KMS (key lifecycle, secure storage, distribution) and the NMS (provisioning, monitoring, fault and performance management of the QKD network) Act as Product Owner across both products: maintain a single roadmap, prioritise the backlog, and translate customer and regulatory input into release-ready specifications Design the networking architecture of the deployed system, segmentation, secure transport, control- and management-plane separation, for telco, data centre, government, and defence environments Architect for high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery covering both key material and network state Define the northbound and southbound management interfaces (SNMP, RESTCONF/YANG) and the operator-facing UI and CLI Embed cyber security across the lifecycle: threat modelling, secure-by-design, hardening, cryptographic agility, and zero-trust patterns Lead future certification of the software and drive compliance against relevant standards (Common Criteria, ETSI, etc.) Build and lead the in-house software development team, hiring, mentoring, and coordinating external subcontractors and integration partners Collaborate closely with quantum physicists, electronics, and FPGA specialists so the KMS and NMS integrate cleanly with the QKD hardware Represent the product to customers, partners, and standards bodies as the senior technical voice Qualifications M.Sc. (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 10+ years of experience in software and system architecture for security-critical products Proven track record as a software architect, preferably for a Key Management System, HSM-backed platform, PKI, or comparable cryptographic infrastructure Demonstrated experience acting as Product Owner or technical product lead, owning a roadmap, writing specifications, and shipping releases in an agile environment (Jira or similar) Deep expertise in IP networking and network management architecture for distributed systems: segmentation, routing, TLS/IPsec, mTLS, secure management planes, and FCAPS-style operations (fault, configuration, accounting, performance, security) Strong hands-on engineering background: C/C++, Python, Linux internals, and modern DevSecOps tooling (Git, CI/CD, IaC, container security) Expert-level knowledge of cyber security: threat modelling, secure-by-design, cryptographic protocols and primitives, key lifecycle management, and hardening of Linux-based systems Experience with management and telemetry protocols (SNMP, RESTCONF/YANG) in carrier or enterprise environments Excellent communication skills in English; able to represent the product to customers, auditors, and standards bodies (Optional): Familiarity with relevant standards and frameworks, Common Criteria, FIPS 140-3, ISO 27001, ETSI GS QKD 014/015/018 (Optional): Experience with QKD, post-quantum cryptography, and HSM vendors (Optional): Experience with telecom or critical-infrastructure deployments (telco operators, data centres, defence, government) We Offer The full-time position offers several interesting challenges to be solved in collaboration with an experienced and dynamic team. As a developer in an agile company you will play a central role in the technical development and work of all aspects of the system. We provide individual growth plans aligned with your personal preferences and motivation. We offer competitive compensation, depending on qualifications.
