The position As Commissioning Lead Engineer, you will report to the Commissioning Manager and take responsibility for planning, managing and coordinating commissioning activities within your assigned system scope. You will ensure that the systems are commissioned safely, on schedule and in accordance with the design, customer contract and project-specific specifications. You will lead and coordinate a team of typically 1-7 employees with different technical tasks, work closely with subcontractors and internal Engineering functions, and remain actively involved in field activities. At site, you will delegate instructions to assigned personnel and support customer dialogue on commissioning and operational matters as agreed with the Commissioning Manager. Your main responsibilities Prepare, control and maintain commissioning plans, procedures and project documentation for your system scope. Manage and coordinate all commissioning activities within the assigned plant systems. Carry out and support practical commissioning tasks in the field. Control and enforce agreed schedules, costs and safety requirements. Ensure compliance with the plant design, customer contract and project-specific specifications. Provide qualified input to the overall project schedule and monitor commissioning progress. Identify deviations, technical issues and risks, and coordinate corrective actions with Engineering and other relevant departments. Lead assigned employees at site, delegate instructions and follow up on task execution and quality. Manage and negotiate with subcontractors within your area of responsibility. Support the customer as a technical contact for commissioning and operational matters when requested by the Commissioning Manager. Ensure regulated and safe operation and consistent compliance with all relevant HSE requirements. Supervise the practical training of the customer's operating personnel. Ensure that all commissioning QA/QC and handover documentation for your system scope is completed before takeover and Provisional Acceptance. Train and support Junior Commissioning Engineers when required. Share lessons learned with Engineering and contribute to improving processes, standards and future project execution. Your professional background You hold a relevant engineering degree and bring more than five years of professional experience, including several years on large-scale industrial plants as a Commissioning Lead Engineer, Senior Commissioning Engineer or in a comparable role. You have participated in complex construction and commissioning projects and understand how technical systems, site execution, documentation and safe plant operation fit together. We also expect that you have: Sound process and operating knowledge of thermal plants such as Energy from Waste, biomass, coal or oil-fired facilities. Experience from Kanadevia Inova or other Energy from Waste plants is an advantage. Experience leading engineers or technicians with different tasks within a defined technical area. A recognised supervisor-level HSE qualification such as SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent. A valid SCC safety certificate or equivalent contractor-safety certification. Good knowledge of function plans, P&IDs and technical plant documentation. Knowledge of DCS systems and practical experience with plant controls. Basic knowledge of subcontractor management and the ability to manage and negotiate with subcontractors. Good knowledge of Microsoft applications; experience with PIRS is an advantage. Business-fluent English; German or other foreign languages are an advantage. Availability for extensive work at international project sites. You also enjoy sharing knowledge, developing junior colleagues and turning site experience into useful improvements for future projects.
